Isaksson Diplomacy Games

An Isaksson Dip game is a Judge game with deadline and grace periods such that the game can not be played in real time, but forces the players to phase at least one movement order overnight. It is always set NMR. Typically, there will be about two game years processed within a single day.

The first game with these settings was Nosleep on SEPO and was run by  Roland Isaksson. We are currently searching for players who are interested in this type of game. Roland has set up a mailing list for this purpose. Please contact him if you want to join it.

General Considerations

Use common sense when playing in these games. They are still in experimental stage, so there might be loopholes. Players should not use them but tell the GM if they are aware of any.

Isaksson Dip games are usually not suitable for newcomers to Judge Diplomacy. If you are a newbie and want to play anyway, please contact the game master before signing on.

A game of reasonable length should be finished within a week. Prepare for a thrilling and time-consuming experience.

House Rules for Isaksson Dip Games

Before the game starts, game settings can not be changed unless all players and the game master agree.

Once the game is under progress, the following rules apply:

  1. Game settings can not be changed unless cheating occurs which makes an emergency halt unavoidable.
  2. No player is allowed to resign from the game. If a player is unable to continue play, he should simply go NMR and inform the game master.
  3. Replacements may only be instantiated by the game master. Powers which are gone CD or are abandoned may not be taken over by anybody without the game master's agreement. If you want to be a substitute, sign on as observer and inform the game master. He will sign you on.
  4. Players must not do anything which changes deadlines or grace periods.
  5. Game masters may change these house rules or make additions to them in the game comment.

Notes to the Game Masters

It is advisable to set the game NoList once it is under progress.

Make sure you set the "min" parameter to a suitable value (usually almost the same as the "next" parameter) in order to avoid the game becoming a real-time game.

Games seem to run more smoothly if GM makes sure that all players have submitted orders for S1901 before the game starts.

If you need to replace a player, you should wait for the replacement player to sign on as observer. Then resign the absent player and sign on the replacement yourself. Then adjust both the deadline and the grace since they will automatically move to the next day.

You may decide to add to the game comment the policy that powers which have been CD for some amount of game years are open for replacement players.

I would be grateful if game masters of Isaksson Diplomacy games inform me
